House of Parliament/Palace of Westminster

Facts:
- Originally built in the 11th century
- Located on the Thames River
-  Composed of the House of Commons and the House of Lords
- House of Commons: Elected members. Debate forum. The House of Commons is dependant on the    percentage the party gains in the elections. Commons makes the laws and sends it to be passed in the      Lords.
- House Of Lords: 2nd house of Parliament. They are not elected. They have inherited seats and tend to be  mutual when it comes to passing bills. However, some are elected, but not many. Their powers to 'check  and balace' laws passed by Commons is restricted but all bills go through the Lords and then to the Queen.
- In 1834, a fire destroyed most of the original building
- There are four floors:
Ground floor - Offices, river front houses, meeting rooms, and dining halls
First floor - More dining rooms, Chambers of the House of Commons and House of Lords, and libraries
